Well, when I’m not the only one having troubles, well, I don’t feel so bad.
But sometimes, you just want something to work so bad, you are willing to ‘will’ the thing to work.
Product in question? The new Max Factor Vivid Impact Eye Shadow Duos.

First off, lov the colors. Color combos that take the guesswork out for you and just make you look so hip trendy, as in why didn’t I think of that?
And not one but two shades in one product that you can use to highlight and color those gorgeous eyes of yours.
My fav was the #190 (a lime green/mauve combo) and the #170, (a silver and gray shimmer set).
The colors go on somewhat softer and with a surprise of beautiful shimmer, bordering on almost glitter on some shades.. but with a light touch. I got major compliments the day I wore the gray/silver set.
Gotta love right?
But then comes in the ‘wish wish wish!” department.
As in, why couldn’t this thing just work better? I mean, I know how to put on eye shadow but this just made me feel really clumsy and amateurish whenever (which would mean every time) I applied this.
The sponge tip applicator seems ideal. Just swatch on and go right? You’d think.
The sponge tip, unlike others I’ve tried, tends to gob it on in one area, and doesn’t do that great a job blending it for you. You actually need an eye shadow brush to blend and smooth out after you’ve ‘dabbed’ it on with the sponge tip. And it looks like it’d do a great job lining around the eyes for that smudged smoky look, but then, the sponge tip applicator is actually way to big to do this for you…
But the main pet peeve? For some reason, the sponge tip just gets eye shadow everywhere. I mean everywhere. Every time I apply, I get a fall out of shadow on my cheeks to which I have to clean up. I haven’t had to do this in so long that I feel like I’m 16 again, cleaning up after my mistakes… I mean every time.
Sigh. If I didn’t love the colors so much, this product would get the heave ho, but gosh darn, those colors are sooo pretty.
So I attempt again. This time I swipe my brush across the sponge tip and then apply. Much easier, with no fall out. But to throw in my purse i need to throw in the brush also for touch ups and such. Now don’t get me wrong. Not that big of a deal, but when the product ‘looks’ like it should be a simple touch, apply, blend tool all in one, and it doesn’t do the job? Well, I’m all for working a way around it, but why?
Love the colors.
Wish it just worked better….
What we do for beauty, huh?
