How to find the right foundation brush.

May 23rd, 2008  |  Published in Uncategorized  |  1 Comment

In helping a friend find a new foundation brush for her, i came across a trick when we browsing through the Nordstrom and Sephora beauty aisles.

CARGO Foundation Brush

This springy brush dispenses and blends foundation perfectly every time, for a flawless finish that never looks overdone.

Tip: Run your fingers through the brush. If you feel the separation of the bristles in your fingers (as in you can feel each individual hair) then your foundation brush is cut too coarsly or the hairs are too thick.  If you can’t feel each individual hair, and it just feels smooth, then that’s it. The hairs are softer, and thinner which makes foundation go on much smoother. and no crease lines….

Cover FX #160 Cream Foundation Brush

What it is:A short, dense stippling brush. What it does: Foundation Brush #160 Natural is perfect for the application of foundation. It is ideal for building coverage without streaking. What else you need to know:The bristles are made of select 100% natural goat hair which is not dyed and therefore less prone to irritate skin. Soft, natural bristles do not permit excessive product deposition, therefore facilitating easier cream foundation application.

See? Just saved yourself a step. And you’re all running off to feel the hairs in your foundation brushes now aren’t you. I know you are!

Cover FX #170 Precision Foundation Brush

What it is:A mid-size brush with unique pointed tip design allows precise application of liquid, cream, and powder products. What it does: Precision Foundation #170 works well for concealing in detailed, concaved, or convex areas such as the inner corner of the eye, and around the nose, due to the handy pointed tip. It is a multi-functional brush that works equally well for foundation application as well as for concealing, highlighting, and contouring.

Dior Foundation Brush Foundation Brush

Sephora Brand Professionnel Platinum Angled Foundation Brush #51 Angled Foundation Brush #51

What it is:This brush applies foundation and other liquid products expertly across the face and within the creases of your features. What it does:The angled shape allows you to paint with precision, as it twists to fit perfectly in hard-to-reach places. The tri-tone synthentic taklon fibers not only look professional, they also provide a concentrated application without absorbing product.

I liked the Body shop foundation brush as it has a fantastic diamond tip that picks product precisely and very good quality nylon bristles that help blend the product really well.
    Ciao
