Just watch this video. Do designers even HEAR us anymore?
My mouth hung open as I watched scarily skinny models walk down the runways in this collection with wrists that looked like they would break, calves skinnier than my arms, collarbones sticking out , and yes. SHOULDER bones sticking out. (I’ve never seen a shoulder bone… what the?)
Yes, yes, I know. Clothes look better on a skinnier model (though no one had a problem with it, when the supermodels back when were a size EIGHT and that was considered model thin…) but when I’m busy looking at anorexic arms and legs, well, I can assure you. I’m certainly not even bothering looking at your clothes. Nope. Don’t even ask me what the color theme was or the highlight of your show. I can’t remember.
So as the public screams and yells and is horrified at how deadly sick your models are looking, do you even hear us? Do you even care? I don’t think so. Maybe when we boycott all designers that continue to send sickly thin models down the runways as ‘icons of beauty’ (in their eyes, not ours), and it hits their pocketbook, well, maybe then they’ll take notice. Because sadly that’s the only thing that gets their attention. Money, or lack of.
Meanwhile, I’ll go shopping and spending my money at places and for designers that promote a happy and healthy lifestyle. Cause this certainly isn’t it.
Note to designers: STICK THIN MODELS ARE SO O V E R! Get over it.
Okay, that was my rant of the day.

How funny. I noticed the EXACT same thing watching the new season of Project Runway…it is VERY distracting. Probably they are all on Adderall…lol!!!!!
Thank you! I’m a senior in high school and frankly I’m sick of hearing my peers talk wistfully of looking like this. Designers who do things like this are, quite frankly, totally irresponsible.
Wonderful article, just added the site to my favorites. Thanks so much.
