Marisa Acocella Marchetto began her career as a cartoonist. Three weeks before getting married for the first time, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Working at Glamour at the time, her editors urged her to write about it. And write about it she did.
Cancer Vixen was published in 2006.

Today? Marisa is happy and healthy. And her book? She is donating a percent of the book’s proceeds to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation as well as to underprivileged women at the Comprehensive Cancer Center in Manhattan, with her Cancer Vixen Fund. Marisa so rocks.
