So in my recent quest to up the fitness quota for the New Year (and so far so good!) my recent purchase of the Feb issue of Fitness Magazine had a great beauty tip that I thought I’d share…
And since I tend to be one of the ‘more is more!’ brain thought (I know, you’d think I’d know better), they had a short about “Less Is More”. As in what you actually really do need in application sizes of products. So indulge me as I pass on this great info, that yes, I really should be partaking…..also great point: less saves you money as well. As in use less, waste less, need less, buy later…
So here’s what you REALLY should be using, amount wise:

Eye Cream :
the size of an M&M

Foundation :
an Altoid size

Face or Hair Serum:
a Nickle

Conditioner :
A marble size for short hair, 2 for long.

Mousse :
A golf ball
Lord, I’ve been applying waaaaay too much. Of like everything. Like an altoid amount for foundation? Is that really enough? Note to self: try it! Do you agree?
size shown in image(s) may not be exact, but you get the idea….

Okay, are they talking about applying foundation with a brush, sponge or fingers? I really think there is a difference in amount used depending on which method. But, Lordy, I know I use way more than marble or two of my conditioner – take more to condition more, right?
Yeah, that's what I was thinking with the foundation brush. And the sponge would soak up more – I'm still a dirty finger girl, so I only *kinda* waste it.
As for the conditioner – I hadn't heard that one about dry – seems odd to this shampoo first in the shower girl, but maybe they are talking about the o/n conditioners?
I agree you use more foundation depending how you apply it, I've found I use the least with fingers, a little more with a brush and most with a sponge. Application by brush is my favorite way to apply. I find when you have a foundation with a pump, it dispenses about an altoid size amount but I usually need a little more than that for personal application.
I had a hairdresser tell me years ago that you should use about a dime size of conditioner, a little more for longer hair. Prior to that I was using way too much! Now one bottle of conditioner lasts me for months.
Here's a tip about conditioner: Use conditioner to shave your legs, underarms, etc. It works like a charm & is silky smooth. Since most people use up their shampoo faster than conditioner, this helps balance the usage and saves having yet another product in the shower or for travel.
A marble size conditioner is enough only for short hairscuts.
