Maybelline’s all a twitter….

Okay, make that a-vibrating…
Why?

Pulse Perfection
Maybelline has a new mascara out that I got to try… and it’s a-buzzing.
As in, seriously. Buzzing.

Their new
Pulse Perfection by Define-A-Lash Vibrating Mascara.  How about 7,000 vibrations per minute? And I’ll be the first to say, i was scared.

Because I have yet to try a buzzing, vibrating mascara wand.  To me it sounds, gimicky, and yes silly.  So needless to say I was a bit hesitant.

This vibrating mascara vibrates horizontally to mimic the back and forth motions that most makeup artists do (yes, even me) to get that mascara on as close to the base of the lashes as possible and to get a lot of the product on so that we can then brush it out, to create long, thicker lashes.

So does it?

Well, here, the vibration is something you control in the cap. Yep, there’s a little square button in the cap that you press down and hold as you move the wand through your lashes. First off, the buzz was loud.  As in the first time, you’ll jump, so don’t do this for the first time right at the lashes. Press down the cap, and then approach the lash.

So I held on, I buzzed, I applied. And sadly, there’s pros and cons to this thing. Which do you want first?

Okay, cons.

Pressing on this cap is a bit tricker than I thought it would be. Because you have to press down fairly tight, because if you let up the slightest bit, it turns off. You have to do two things at once.. press and apply. Sounds easy, but I can’t tell you how many times this thing turned off on me.  Press, buzz, press, buzz. Come on! I almost wish there was a stay on button to this thing. So just a word of warning, it’ll take a few tries till you’ve mastered this thing… let’s call it a homework assignment.

Second, the vibration on the top lashes is fine, really. Sounds loud, but it’s very slight to the feel on the top lashes. But the bottom? It really tickles. On me anyway.. and I have super sensitive eyes.. so not so much that I couldn’t use it, but let’s say it took about 4 sweeps until I got used to it.

Now the pros.

The lashes look great. Long, slick… and absolutely no clumps what so ever.  And incredibly black.  LIke, Maybelline Great Lash black. Thing of those wispy false lashes at the drugstore. Yep, looks just like that. Makes the lashes insanely dark.  Longer, but sadly, not too much thicker..

Now in my trial and error research to this new thing, I actually tried applying this to my lashes without the vibration, and yep, this thing just glumps (is that a word?) on and goes on thick and yes, it does clump.  Press the cap? Viola, just brush through the it, and it literally brushed all the clumps and thick spots away.

Hint: Try applying with the buzz off, then press on the cap to brush and vibrate through.. somehow this way seemed easier.

Also, the mascara also lasted all day, with no drying effects, or peeling off, or the sensation of having to get this mascara off my lashes.
