Lindsay, one of my fav makeup assistants and an amazing makeup artist in her own right, had the chance to check out The Makeup Show for me, as I was busy working away….. check out her first hand view of the newest and greatest from THE show in NY……… elke

Hello there, makeup junkies! Well, wouldn’t you know it…The Makeup
Show 2009 was better than ever! So many vendors of drool-worthy
products and amazing speakers in makeup education for professionals.
There is always something to be learned and many new amazing products
to try! The speaker highlights include Make Up For Ever founder and
artist Dany Sanz, agent Crystal Wright, Makeup Show founder Michael
DeVellis, Deshawn Hatcher’s “Beautiful Skin of Color” workshop, and
many more. There are so many valuable perspectives to the industry
that provide insight and inspiration year after year.
Vendors includes favorites Face Atelier, Obsessive Compulsive
Cosmetics, adesign, Make Up For Ever, and Stila. I really cannot ever
say too many wonderful things about Face Atelier because my makeup
simply looks like magic when i use it. Clearly I use it everyday, and
not just for myself, but every one of my clients. While the Ultra Pro
Foundation is the love of my life, I have discovered a couple other
things in the line that I hadn’t noticed before. The Bronze eye
pencil is absurdly gorgeous, and ladies, I can’t even stress how
beautiful it looks on everyone. Everyone!

Also, the Sculpt mascara gives the coolest shiny effect…perhaps due to the silicone in it? Anyway, check out their website, drool, and buy.
I really can’t get OCC‘s lip tars out of my head, but you all just
heard my gushing about them recently. I clearly wasn’t the only one
who felt this way because David Klasfeld of Obsessive Compulsive’s
booth was sooo busy! However, I just tried out the loose shimmers
Clove and Platonic and their beauty makes me sigh. Oh, and Maxi from
the makeup artist reality show Blush was there wearing a disco ball
situation on his head. Good times!

Stila hadn’t really shown up in my world in awhile, but I couldn’t
help but take notice of their new 24 Karat Gold Indian Summer
collection. Inspired by the beauty of India, the collection
highlights for me included the Golden Noir Smudge Pot and the 24 Karat
Lip Gloss in Brilliant Pink. The Smudge Pot kicks up black a couple
notches up least by adding a little gold sparkle to it’s long wearing
wonder formula, and it’s gorgeous! The lip gloss is a perfect sheer
pink with the right amount of gold sparkle as well. My favorite part
is that when the gloss wears off, the sparkle remains and it still
looks beautiful. Plus, there is a totally adorable bindi on the tube.
Love!

All in all, the Makeup Show 2009 was another total hit! It is
absolutely the greatest resource out there for makeup artists, budding
and professional. The beauty of our industry is that there is always
something to learn, and Michael DeVellis has created the space for a
burst of supportive and inspirational energy to grow. I am already
looking forward all the new wonders for this ever-changing industry at
next year’s show.
