REVIEW: Maybelline SuperStay 24 Hour Foundation/Concealer

24 hours huh? Count me in. So in getting to review the newest from Maybelline’s entry into the Color Stay foundation wonder from Revlon, I was happy to try, since touching up foundation is the last thing I want to do during my busy day.

Enter SuperStay 24 HR Makeup. Sent to me by PR, I got the “Classic Ivory” shade, which to me meant that it should be a good color fit. Boy was I wrong. Sigh. Make this the most gray I’ve ever seen in a foundation color, which loads of pink, which to me doesn’t read ‘ivory’. But try I did. Their ad copy reads:

Micro-Flex formula provides 24-hour wear and No Transfer
Withstands heat, sweat and humidity
Oil-free, dermatogolist tested, fragrance-free. Suitable for all skin types

Well, I will have to go back and try their lighter shades in Sand Beige or Porcelain Ivory to see if I can get a better color match, because this foundation really does what it says. Stays on like, forever. But ok, not really 24 hours, so let’s just say a good 5/6 hours it does, if not more. Covers amazing, like I’ve never seen in a liquid foundation before. Normally you would see this kind of coverage in a cream based or pan foundation, (which with it comes more oils and a thicker, heavier consistency that you may not want) but here, you’ll get amazing coverage in a liquid foundation. Also, happy to report that I didn’t get any creases or lines as it wore on, especially under eyes.. none. So fine lines and such stayed unnoticed thank god.

There is no feel to the product (though it does look somewhat thick as you apply it) and I found I got better coverage using my fingers than a foundation brush. A brush tended to streak it on, so fingers it is. And after a week of wearing, happy to report, no blackheads or whiteheads, yet.

Also in the 24 HR department is their SuperStay Concealer. Again, color was way way off, (much too dark) but in the coverage and stay department, it lasted just as long as the foundation. You really can skip this if you want, the foundation covers that great by itself, but if you’re looking for just amazing coverage in select spots, then the concealer will do the trick for you.

So would I buy this? Yep, if I can find the right color that will work for my light skin. Here’s hoping I can.
