Fall is upon us and without a doubt, most of you are pondering bringing in the cooler months, with a change in your hair color. Most clients will say that they want to go “darker”, but just deepening your natural shade isn’t the only option.
Celebrity colorist and Nexxus Color Director Sharon Dorram-Krause provided us with insights on the color trends for fall 2010, as well as advice on the shades and specific treatments blondes, brunettes and redheads should ask for the next time they are in their colorist’s chair.
“For fall, the overall trend is opulent, dynamic color. To achieve these shades, women should ask their stylists to richen the overall base tone, while adding dimension and high-shine.” – Sharon Dorram-Krause, Nexxus Salon Hair Care Color Director.
SHARON’S FALL 2010 TREND PREVIEW:

Show-Stopping Blondes
Stars like Kate Hudson know that the best way to transition their color into cooler weather is to introduce lowlights. Sharon recommends that women ask for fine or thin lowlights to make hair tones appear deeper in a more subtle way, rather than an overall wash.

High-Drama Brunettes
Although brunettes like Demi Moore look great with darker tresses, women should be wary of going too dark. Deep ebony shades can make some women look too severe and actually age them. Instead, women should ask their colorist to stay within the same color family and simply deepen the tone one or two shades.

Opulent Redheads
Redheads who want a change for fall should ask their colorists to richen their shades to a deep auburn or burgundy. Sharon recommends also trying a glaze, or gloss to achieve a high-shine finish, like Julianne Moore.
To keep color from fading between appointments, use a color-protecting shampoo and conditioner, like Nexxus Dualiste. Not only does Nexxus Dualiste offer breakthrough color protection, but it also comes in three formulas to fit your reader’s needs like intense hydration, luscious volume, and anti-breakage care.
