You’ve probably spent your summer sunbathing at the beach, taking a dip in that pool, or spend lazy summer weekends out in the sun at your friend’s bar-b-que. Fun in the sun was had by all, but probably not your hair. But don’t worry…….Sam Brocato of the Sam Brocato Salon in New York City has all the tips and tricks you need to bring that gloriously shiny, healthy hair that was once yours back.

Ah, the great hair evils of the summer – the sun and other elements. “For many, hair has taken serious abuse by the end of summer thanks to spending so much time outdoors in the sun, not to mention frequent shampooing and exposure to chlorine,” says Sam. “Normal to dry and color-treated or damaged hair types suffer the most and are likely in dire need of extra nourishing products.” Sam recommends his Brocato Saturate collection, which includes Intensive Moisture Shampoo, Intensive Moisture Treatment, and Leave-in-Conditioner. These products will revitalize your sun dried hair with much-needed moisture, leaving hair feeling soft, quenched and healthy.
Color-Correction Perfection.
Nothing will strip that gorgeous hair color quicker than the combination of sun, sand, salt and chlorine. UV rays are notorious for fading or altering the color of treated hair. “To care for color-treated hair, start by using color enhancing products, like our Brocato Vibracolor collection,” says Sam. “But for serious color correction issues, go see your colorist. It is very likely that you will need a bit of color correction by summer’s end. Reds become brassy, browns faded and blondes can turn yellow or even green. It is extremely difficult to deal with these kinds of color issues successfully without the help of a pro.”

Cut. It. Out.
What neglected locks crave most at the end of a busy summer is a scissor. A great cut will rid your hair of summer’s damage “calling-cards,” i.e. breakage, fly-aways, split-ends and frizziness. “Once hair reaches a certain level of damage, no product can replace a good cut,” says Sam. “For optimal hair health, a trim every eight weeks or so is advised, and especially by summer’s end. There is no better, faster, easier way to improve the overall health of hair at the end of summer than a trim.”
