When I got in the mail, the WEN® hair system to review, well, let me just say I jumped for joy and squealed like a little girl at christmas. Why? I’ve been wanting to try this ever since it was introduced, and I felt a personal connection, because I happened to meet Chaz Dean, the creator of Wen® on a photo shoot for Allure magazine. You know the directory section of Allure where they showcase best hair color, best waxing, best massage, etc for the different states? Well, I did the makeup for the photo that appeared with his listing showcasing his salon in Los Angeles and I had the chance to meet with him. The sweetest and most down to earth hairstylist I ever met. You can tell it is his passion.

So I finally have the chance to try, and let me tell you my experience. If you haven’t seen his infomercials that play almost every night, or seen him on QVC, WEN® takes a different approach to cleaning and conditioning your hair. It’s a single-step Cleansing Conditioner made with natural ingredients – avoiding sodium laurel sulfate and other damaging detergents usually found in shampoos — so it doesn’t strip your hair and scalp of their natural oils. The WEN® Cleansing Conditioner does not lather, but rather feels like a thick conditioning treatment on the hair.
What got me was the ability to be able to keep my hair color. Since I’ve been coloring my hair high school, I always run into the dreaded shampooing of my hair just mere days after a new color job only to see my roots lighten up a few shades and pretty much ruin it. And this is even with those special shampoos for colored hair by the top hair pros. Sigh.. it’s like the neverending story. Plus, coloring your hair can do a number on it and doing a bunch of do it myself color jobs late at night after a long day at work, I also see my hair getting dryer, coarser and dull. So yes, I was a ready and willing participant to try…

How To Use Directions:
- Rinse hair thoroughly, then apply 10-15 pumps of WEN® to your palms and rub together (more for longer or thicker hair). Yes, it seems like a lot and a part of you will kinda question that you’re putting on what feels like conditioner, not shampoo.
- Apply to your scalp, massage like you would shampoo and add a splash of water to create a foaming effect (WEN® has no detergents or Sodium Laurel Sulfate so it won’t lather automatically). Personally, I never saw it lather, but it does feel incredibly lush and luxurious… and you’ll feel a slight minty cooling effect on your scalp but not enough to be bothersome. I personally am not a fan at all of pepperment and such, but this didn’t bother me.
- Massage into your scalp for 1-3 minutes, comb through hair and leave on for at least 3-5 minutes for maximum conditioning. Five minutes feels like a long time but it really isn’t. If in the shower, shampoo (oops, I mean apply the conditioning conditioner) to your hair first, and let it sit as you do the rest of your shower routine, like soap, shave, etc.
- Comb through and rinse hair thoroughly, massaging scalp and running fingers through to the ends
- Apply again as a small amount as leave-in conditioner, if desired.
- You can also apply his Re Moist Intensive Hair Treatment, which seriously, is a life saver. Have damaged hair? In one treatment, (yes, just 1) I noticed a tremendous difference. My hair went from dry, to literally air drying into ringlets (my hair is naturally wavy half way down, but never ringlets…)
The combination of these two products has literally saved my hair. My hair is super shiny, soft and feels light as air. I use very little styling product now and my hair has never looked better. I can’t wait to use it because I just know my hair is going to look amazing afterwards.

Styling Cream:
This product didn’t agree with my hair too much as it weighted it down and made my hair flat, no matter how little I applied. I think this works better for heavier, coarser hair.
Texture Balm:
I love the stick application (just run a swipe through your palm, rub hands together and press through your hair..) gives your hair a textured look. Directions say to use 6-8 strokes on your palm but I found that to be too much for my fine, thin and longer hair….
I seriously after using his products for about a month, will no longer buy shampoo and conditioner anymore. There’s just no need. The difference has been so amazing (and even after just the first usage) that the average shampoo/conditioner to me feels like it will ruin my hair. And with products promising you the moon, the sun and the earth (and we know how very little the reality of it really is..) it’s a godsent to actually get a product that promises everything and more. I’m a true and faithful fan. Can’t wait to buy more from QVC….(I just bought myself more as a christmas present to myself in the new Fig scented for volumizing. Can not wait to try..)
