The latest theme is nude polish and short, perfectly groomed nails.  Want to know how to get?  The owner of MARS the Salon, Hiroko Fujikawa, shared with us her steps below on how to achieve the perfectly nude manicure at home.

Step One: Pick Your Polish
To pick the perfect nude polish you have to factor in three key elements: skin tone, make-up choice and dress. My top 3 nude nail polish choices are: Essie polish in Allure, Essie polish in Fed Up and OPI Samoan Sand.

Step Two: Perfect Your Shape
File and buff your nails into your desired shape, if you don’t have time to file clipping your nails also works wonders. To make your nails appear a little longer, round up the corners.

Step Three: Remove Oils
To ensure your long lasting manicure, remove all excess oils by saturating the nail bed under each nail with a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol. Wipe dry with a cotton towel to avoid the fuzzies from the cotton balls.

Step Four: Use A Base Coat
Paint a thin layer on each nail, fully covering the nail bed. This ensures for a longer lasting, extra durable manicure, don’t forget to swipe over the tips to seal the edges!

Step Five: Paint On Polish
Take your desired nude polish and paint the entire nail bed twice, they key to a perfectly polished nude nail is the first thin coat of polish.

Step Six: Check Your Work
Take an extra few seconds to take a thin brush and dip it into nail polish remover and erase any mistakes.

Step Seven: Finish With A Top Coat
Paint a layer of top coat to ensure your manicures glossy finish!
