Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics can’t wait to pull back the curtain on their first flagship boutique in Lower East Side, New York on September 22nd. The store officially opens its doors to the public on September 23rd.

Until now, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics 100% vegan, pro-only range of products, has only been available at exclusive industry-only Professional Makeup emporiums. “OCC chose the Lower East Side because it has really become the true hub of all things creative and artistic coming out of New York.  The neighborhood’s latest renaissance is producing cutting edge design fashion, designers, salons and art galleries, and that’s where OCC needs to be.” David Klasfeld, CEO/Creative Director, OCC

Walking into the flagship store you will see an array of makeup in bold and dramatic colours with pops of neon and saturated pastels, radiating from every corner. Professional Makeup Artists are standing by to offer private consultations, makeup applications, and will even show you how to perfect airbrush makeup. Customers will not want to miss OCC’s Mixing Bar where they can custom create their perfect shade, or recreate their favorite colour. Gone are the days anyone has to live without their favorite discontinued beauty product!  With over 36 shades of Lip Tars, highly pigmented loose eyeshadows, and an array of vibrant nail polishes, OCC’s flagship store is sure to become the next beauty haven for any makeup artist or beauty buff.

The opening will kick off with a VIP/Press event where attendees will nibble on vegan appetizers, sip on cocktails, and experience the space through an interactive grand opening celebration. Professional makeup artists will be ready to pamper attendees with a rainbow of limitless colours and combinations. The grand opening will feature an appearance by founder David Klasfeld, who will be on hand to guide you through the experience and advise on the Fall/Winter makeup trends and show first-hand their new collection, which took inspiration from glam rockers including David Bowie and Boy George.

Sephora Carries Art Throughout the Retail Experience

Inside Sephora Meatpacking you will discover “Flamenco Tornado,” a custom work by New York based installation artist and sculptor, E.V. Day.  The large scale piece, the first commissioned in a series by Sephora, explores overt female power, sexuality, passion and energy.  Using the artist’s signature suspension techniques, the piece uses an original flamenco dress donated to the artist, which is distorted to capture the raw energy of a tornado, suggesting a woman’s transformative movement and power.Going forward, Sephora will incorporate original artwork from a series of contemporary artists into a designated gallery space within the store.

Sephora Comes to Life Outside Its Doors
Sephora commissioned artists David Ellis, Maya Hayuk, SASU and Yuri Shimojo to create a visual feast that acts as a mural and barricade. Titled “Transforming Beauty,” the work evokes beauty’s transformative powers through flowing leis that change right before your eyes. The leis incorporate dramatic color and raw materials including vibrant feathers, minerals, fruits, and flowers. The illusion of movement and depth was crafted in a 10’ x 100’ lenticular format, by interlacing 10 frames of animation. Overlaid is a multidimensional script that reads “Ours is yours”—welcoming you to Sephora’s grand opening.  Ellis also directed a 2D & 3D film depicting the creation of the artwork in time-lapse with cinematographer Christopher Keohane which features an original soundtrack by composer Maya Love Coppola. The film will be on display in 3D at the grand opening and on Sephora YouTube ( thereafter.
