Eyebrow No-No #4.
In doing eyebrows, I see these 5 common eyebrow no-no’s almost every day. What are they? Just read on to see what they are and my fixes for them…. if you’re not sure or comfortable in fixing your own eyebrows, I highly recommend getting an expert to shape them for you first.
4. Using stencils to create your eyebrow shape.
Nothing gets me more than seeing a stenciled on eyebrow. You know, the super dark, thick, harshly drawn on eye shadow that looks just too fake. The good part of stencils? Everyone thinks they can draw their eyebrows on easy. The bad part? It doesn’t look like YOUR eyebrows.
You really can’t do a cookie cutter approach to shaping and drawing on eyebrows. Why? Because everyone’s bone structure and eye shape is different, and your eyebrow shape really has to do with the bone that’s underneath the brow. That determines the eyebrow hairs and shape that are uniquely yours.
Fix: Draw on eye shadow with a super thin, soft, small angle brush. Not the thick, black hard angle brush. That’s too hard and rough. The softer the brush, the softer the look. You want people to look at your eyes, not your eyebrows. Take a eye shadow color that’s 1-2 shades lighter than your hair color. Draw on in the middle of the eyebrow, and then blend out to the bottom of the eyebrow line. Take a soft baby toothbrush, or a clean mascara wand applicator, and brush the shadow through. Viola. Soft eyebrows that look real.
Toya’s Tip: Go easy on the brows!
I couldn’t have said it better myself: so true!
Over the years that I’ve been a beauty lover (and that’s quite a few years, y’all), some of the worst beauty crimes I’ve seen are those committed against eyebrows. I ask myself, “Why do we hate our eyebrows?” ‘Cause seriously, ladies, some of us out there commit assault against our God-given eyebrows on an almost daily basis. We tweeze them too thin. We walk around with unibrows (which are never cute, under any circumstance). We cut designs into them (thankfully, this trend has faded – please God it never comes back). And the worst crime of all – we shave them off entirely and then draw them back on. For the love of God, WHY???
Almost as bad are those of us who ……………….

Eyebrow No-No #2
In doing eyebrows, I see these 5 common eyebrow no-no’s almost every day.
LIke:
2. Arch in the wrong place
What do all of these images have in common? The arch is in the wrong place.

Or, in most cases, the arch is too far out. This happens when the arch
is created by a pencil lining up to the side of the nose, up to the
outside iris of the eye. Nope. That’s not the right placement. What
happens is that the eyes actually end up looking crossed eyed
(especially in photos), and does not make the eyes look wide set, like you think they would.
Fix: Tweeze a few more hairs so the arch moves in closer to the middle of the eye

Eyebrow No-No #1.
In doing eyebrows, I see these 5 common eyebrow no-no’s almost every day.

them;. if you’re not sure or comfortable in fixing your own eyebrows, I

1. The round eyebrow.

Or I call this, “the happy eyebrow”. It borders on an almost 1/2 circle shape. This happens when the tweezer keeps trying to create more of an arch, but is not sure where it is. So they keep tweezing from underneath the eyebrow in the wrong place, creating a 1/2 circle.
The most extreme version is when the owner looks like they’re always raising their eyebrows, hence, the happy face. More subtle is where it’s not so high, but the line of the eyebrow is still a semi circle.
Fix: Straighten the eyebrow line from the beginning to the arch, so the line is more of a straight line. This takes away from the semi circle.
I just have one question…..
The Fall Collections last year brought us the strong brow, which in some cases, in my opinion, went a little too far.
Case in point:
As seen on New York Mag “The Cut” Fashion Blog.
Meet the New Girl: Cato Van Ee
But hey, it’s makeup, so if it doesn’t work, just wash it off.
but HERE….
wait for it….
yep, it’s a tattoo. of cats. on her brows.
As in it’s NEVER coming off. why why why?
Just Whatever shares my speechlessness (is that a word?) with a page full of the ‘World’s Worse Eyebrows’……

Why wait 3 months?
The #1 thing I hear from clients is the “I”ve been told I have to wait 3 months” before booking a brow shaping appointment.” As in, wait for 3 months worth of brow growth before anything can be done. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had clients say, “I’ve let my brows grow in for you.” And when I ask for how long? It’s 3 months. Why is 3 months the pre-requisite time to wait? All I can tell is that you have been walking around for 3 months with very unruly and over grown in brows of which I have to now take off at least 80% of it… why? Because most of the brow growth is usually and sadly not where you actually want it.
Does it take 3 months to get brows grown in in able to reshape them? No. Because you’re only needing brow hairs that are the closest to the actual brow to be able to change or fix brows. The time I need? Try 2 weeks. Reshaping and fixing brows can be done with the brow you have now. So no need to wait forever to get brows fixed up right. So the next time someone tells you to wait 3 months before you make that appointment, keep looking. Because do you really want to wait that long?
See? And you thought it’d take forever to get great brows.
