About our Depilar Permanent Hair Removal Service
One of the great things I’ve come across in my efforts to keep as natural as possible in our services, is the addition of using the newest “Waxelene” all natural petroleum jelly alternative. It offers the same waterproofing, moisturizing and soothing ingredients but in a sustainable and organic way. It’s ingredients? Vitamin E oil, beeswax, organic rosemary, and organic soy oil. You can find it at Whole Foods and other retail locations, and here at the salon, we’re hooked.
How we use it:
We use it to provide a seal on the skin before any brow waxing service, as we apply it on the skin first before any wax; as well as to protect the skin when tinting lashes or brows. The best part? We never hear of any clients breaking out afterwards and skin stays soft, without the worry of peeling.
Here’s how to get the best experience from your waxing service:
1. Take two to four ibuprofen, 30 to 60 minutes before your appointment. It will help dull pain receptors and make it a more pleasant experience.
2. Allow seven to 10 days of hair growth before your waxing service.
3. Limit your caffeine intake on the day of the waxing service, since it stimulates the nervous system and increases sensitivity.
4. Schedule your appointment within the first two weeks of your menstrual cycle, after the last period, if possible. At this time, you are retaining the least amount of fluid, and it’s a lot more comfortable.
5. Do not use self-tanners, exfoliants or moisturizers the day of the service—it can cause infections or irritations since the sensitive hair follicles are open after the wax. Also avoid the tanning bed –in general–but especially post-wax.
6. Never wax a new area of your body for the first time before a big event. You just don’t know what kind of reaction there might be. Come in two to three days before the big event to make sure there’s no reaction.

Bold brows are still going to be a big trend as we go through the spring months of next year. (Along with the rosy cheeks that were seen on the fall runways.)

Try our blush available at the salon in “Orgasmic” (a gorgeous peachy gold version similar to the Nars Orgasm blush) or “Orchidee”, a pop of pink fuschia. You can also try Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy Sheerest Cream Blush – provides the sheerest wash of pure color for a more translucent effect.
For Brows:
Try our brand new Waterproof Automatic Brow Pencils in Taupe, Light Brown, Medium Brown, Dark Brown, and Auburn. Just draw on and then brush through for hair like strokes with the spoolie brush end. The pencil is based in a wax that sets to a waterproof finish. So gorgeous, we can’t keep them in stock.
I recently got in the mail some new tools from a brand new company to try out, and we’ve been using them at the salon ever since. There’s a new tweezer on the market that’s made in Japan is called Fan Out. And this tweezer is different.

Available in three sizes, you’ll notice that the tips of the tweezers is different. The tips have a rounded tip to it, with no sharp edges, with the tip being slightly thicker than normal. Made of stainless steel, at first I was a bit intimidated to use them. The handles of the tweezer also have a slight bend to them, while making them easier to see while working, it took a while to get used to the fact that we are not going to pinch or accidently grab skin around the eyebrows as we work. Once I got used to them, I find that they are my favorite tweezers for doing clean up work on the tops and in between brows. I especially like using them for men’s grooming as I find I can work really fast and get a lot done in a short amount of time. And no, I have yet to pinch anyone while using them.
Also in their arsenal is a scraper used for hands and feet, in both large and small.

Again, scary looking, but by far the best tool I have yet to find to remove dead skin from the feet. The perforated holes have directional lines within them which make it easy to work with. The dry removed skin is disposed through the perforated holes without you needing to wipe the tool after each use. The foot Scraper is made of Japanese stainless steel and is durable, washable and rust resistant. A great beauty tool to have.
A couple of weeks ago I went to Elke’s to try a new treatment for the skin around your eyes that she had recommended me. I went one day before a wedding and I was gladly surprise how after only 15 minutes with the eye mask, the skin around my eyes looked fresh and how my black circles had diminished and the skin looked clear as if I had been taking a nap! I will definitely recommend this treatment as part of a facial and for special occasions!
