Get ready. Here are my top as seen at NYFW Spring/Summer ’18 brow trends. Next Spring & Summer will bring you brow looks that are showing that what got started last year, is now firmly a brow staple.
THE MESSY BROW ALEXANDER WANG
Yep. The messy brow is still in. Grown in, along the bottom of the brows all along the brow line.
HOW TO GET: Start growing them now. And stay away from over plucking for a while.
TIP: Can’t get them to grow in? Try extending with a super fine pencil stroke to mimic longer hairs. The finer the line the better, and the more realistic it looks.
THE LONGER BROW
Also a big trend coming in is the longer hairs in the fronts of the brows. Uncut, untrimmed. Just grown in.
HOW TO GET: Avoid trimming your brows in the front for a few months.
TIP: You can fill in with a super precision brow pencil to lightly mimic longer hairs in the fronts. The softer and sharper the line the better. Try a colored brow wax applied with a sharp angle brush for the cleanest of lines.
THE DRAWN BROW
The most eyebrow makeup I saw was the brow top line. Eyebrows weren’t filled at all, just a soft line along the top of the brow. We saw this last year as a trend using a sharp eyebrow pencil, but next year it will be a softer look. Here you can see a soft brow powder is drawn along the top of the brow from beginning to end with a soft shading.
HOW TO DO: To try this look, draw a line of brow shadow along the entire top of the brow from front to end, and then lightly blend your brow shadow with a soft spoolie brush going along the top of the brow to keep the shadow in line.
TIP: Try with a darker brow shadow than your brow, or even a pencil in their exact shade for a little more dramatic look. Pretty for night.
THE MESSY STRAIGHT BROW
This summer’s straight brow has now turned into the straight messy brow. This brow is a slightly messy brow grown in along the tops of the front of the brow, but still cleaned up a touch going along the bottom of the brow. The finishing touch? Brows are brushed up just in the fronts.
HOW TO GET:Avoid trimming the brows for a few months to get them long and then brush up with a strong brow wax to keep in place.
TIP: Brow gels may not be strong enough to get it to stay. Try mixing both a clear brow wax and a clear brow gel together for a stronger finish. Apply the brow wax on first, and then a clear brow gel brushed through and up.
