For years that overdone super dark, drawn on with a sharpie look as been the go to for brows. Not anymore. The “instagram brow” is officially out of style. The newest? Brows that look great, yet with a touch of makeup that still looks real and natural. And the more natural the better.
So how to do natural but with brow makeup? Think 2 rules>

Technique #1: The Right Color
The right brow color now is that your brow makeup should now be 1 shade lighter. Why? It keeps the brow looking natural, fuller, but not darker. Does it matter what product you’re using? Maybe. It depends on the look you want.
Want a very natural brow? Do a brow mascara one shade lighter. It keeps the brows looking the same color, with the bonus of also picking up the lighter and thinner hairs as well, blending it into your own natural brow color. A win win.
Prefer a pencil or brow shadow? Use 1 shade lighter and blend in with a spoolie to soften. Think of it as a shadow effect behind the hairs. This will make the brow hairs themselves stand out more against the skin for a more natural feel.
Technique #2: The Right Application
To create a more natural look to your new brows, think also the right application. Here are a few of my favorite tricks to get a softer feel to your brow makeup look.
BROW MASCARA:Â
Don’t let too much get on your brows when you apply. The easy way is to swipe off any excess brow mascara from the wand back into the mascara tube. That way you keep the product without wasting it. No need to swipe it off on a kleenex. You’re just wasting and going through your product so much faster.
Then swipe through your brows. You’ll find it so much easier to apply without adding so much. Let it dry and then with a clean spoolie, brush through the brows to blend and remove any excess from the skin. Remember, try going the same shade or 1 shade lighter than your brow color.Â
BROW PENCIL:Â
An easy way to get a lighter look without getting a whole new color is to go light handed with your application. No need to drag the color on. Go on super soft and light with your pressure and you’ll get a much lighter look to your pencil.
To keep the look natural, ONLY apply your brow pencil where needed. That way your brows keep that natural feel without looking drawn on. Then blend through with a clean spoolie to soften and blend.
COLORED BROW WAX:Â
Again, the right touch and the right amount is key. Use our specially made Wonderbrow Brush.

Just use the slanted tip brush to pick up just a little of your colored brow wax, and then very lightly apply only where needed onto the skin. Put on less than you think you need and then blend through with a soft spoolie. A much lighter look with a lighter touch.Â
Want to emphasize the hairs more? Apply on the hairs with the spoolie brush side to create an more natural looking brow color.Â
